The Nigeria Labour Congress NLC on Wednesday threatens to embark on strike over the planned hike in Electricity Tarrif.
Such plan was going against the agreement the Federal Government reached with Organised Labour Committee on Electricity Tariff on September 28, 2020 at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The president of the Labour Congress Ayuba wabba served out a strike notice on the speculations that the 11 power distribution companies (DisCos) had received approval to slightly increase electricity tariffs with effect from September 1.
From the new proposed plan customers with low consumption capacity would have their rates increased by N2 (per kilowatts/hour), from N54.08/kwh to N56.08/kwh, with a promise 20hours of standard light supply.
